My VW needs
Also, DAT LEAN
note: If I do trade my '12 in for a '16 GLI after HS, it's going to be silver or Black... These 2 choices have grown on me a lot...
Also, This song goes well with the car, and is quite catchy... Goes great with some nice backroad drives that seem to suit the GLI soooo well...

What is it about the GLI that makes you like it so much?

I'll try to make this as concise as I can...
I love it for many reasons. The first one is that it's a perfect mix of my parent's cars. You see, my mom drives a 2012 VW jetta 2.5 SE 5-speed. I learned to drive in this car, and it's the first decently powerful car I ever drove. It's the car that allowed me to experience modern VW. My stepdad liked my mom's 2.5 quite a bit. so much in fact, that he went out and got himself a 2014 Mk6 GTI Wolfsburg. This car, with it's 5-door practicality, 200hp TSi engine, and driving characteristics, exposed me to a properly modern hot hatch for the first time. I will never forget the feeling of those brand new cloth buckets gripping me.
The second reason is the looks. Unlike most, I love how the Mk6 Jetta looks. It's stylish and buttoned down, like a sharp businesswoman. It doesn't scream "boy racer" at you, even in my bright shade of red. It's classy (IMO) and when I park it, I tend to always take a second and admire it's lines.
The Third is it's performance. Yes, I can't turn the TCS or ESP off. Yes, it's only got 200 horsepower. Yes, it's already low enough to scrape bumps on backroads. yes, there's brake fade if you push it. But these are all characteristics that have given me something to work around. That 2L TSI's whallop between 3000 and 5000 RPM's gives me a perfect rev range to drive in in 3rd and 4th. The easily fading brakes have taught me to engine brake more, and to go in towards apexes, so I can maximize the speed I have, while minimizing brake use. And for all it's scraping, it rides very smooth at higher speeds. It's a very usable, and very good package to learn how to drive well on. It's a platform that forgives your mistakes, and allows you leeway, and won't make you spin out in to that wall or guardrail.
Maybe it's just because I haven't driven a real performance car hard besides this one, but this one makes me smile. That's what's important though. When I push my car, and take those turns, I smile. I laugh. I enjoy the sensation of heel-toing, as I go from 4th to 3rd, getting ready for that sharpish uphill right-hander, with an inset gravel apex to hit.
That is why I love my GLI.

yup.
I realized I shouldn't bitch about what I have, and learn to live with it. Plus, I've found new roads in my area that are quite enjoyable drives, so the GLI can show it's stuff more!
